Adventure #1: Re-Discovering Strength in Times of Struggle

Here I am:  Blogging on the morning after my first Adventure.  I create the adventure.  I determine what day/event/occasion constitutes Adventure.  And you better believe that yesterday was an Adventure in every sense of the word.

Definition needed?  No problem.

If only RA Life was truly this way.
I deceive you, dear Friends.
Adventure:  A mindset of extraordinary attitude, set to overcome, achieve, succeed, and enjoy, yet not without smiles, tears, frustration, or laughter.  A combination of the preceding ingredients are optional, but definitely add to the level of Adventure.

And so--yes, yesterday was Adventure.  Why?  Well,  every part of the definition held true.  I feel like I could write several entries about the happenings of Thursday, April 26.  But, instead, I will list off the ups, the downs, and the intricacies that mold my first ever Adventure, as coined by Me.

1)  Official last biscuit breakfast in the caf (only realized after biscuit almost completely consumed.  Yes, those two last bites were cherished.)

2)  Four hour office shift.  Aforesaid shift followed approximately five hours of sleep.  (Whoops.)

3)  Teeny tiny bit of down time in the office, chilling with the lovely people I call Staff, Friends, Family, and so much more.

4)  Ice cream date--with myself.  I loved it, and not just because I was eating ice cream.

5)  I'll cut to the chase:  phone jumped out of my hands and slid itself down the freight elevator shaft.  Shocking moment.  A perfect turn of events with the most frustrating results I've ever experienced.  (Thank you to residents, friends, and staff who helped me deal with this!)

6)  And then:  Phone rescued.  No details here, just know that it was free, much anticipated, and definitely the highlight of my day (despite the fact that I wish I wasn't THAT attached to my phone.)

7)  Parents in Kalamazoo!  Struggles for them yesterday, too, but it's hard to be TOO discouraged with such exciting news!

8)  Too much at once.  Again, I'll spare the details, but a combination of running the elevator with equally frustrated people, checking out much-too-late residents, being late to Mandatory RA Fun, missing my phone, and being tired meant that Ali had a small solo breakdown.  Be reassured that recovery eventually occurred.

9)  I was a cop.  (RA Murder Mystery during Mandatory Fun.  Enough said.)

10) Late night fun times with staff.  Too much noise, too much chaos, and too much laughter.  Negate everything just said--totally worth it.

And in a nutshell, THAT was Adventure.  Many more to come.  Please stay tuned, update me on your own life, and let me know what you think of any and every Adventure described from here on out.

I appreciate you all for reading; my support network, my coping mechanism, my Adventures logged for Me and You.
